Recent ActivityClass Announcements FIELD DAYTuesday, June 8, 2010 is FIELD DAY for PACE West. Permissions slips were sent home Friday, please sign and return.
Please dress your child appropriately for the weather that day. Cool clothes, tennis shoes and send them with sunblock applied. Lunch/drinks will be provided!! Week of May 24, 20106/7/2010 - 6/11/2010 Language Arts:
This week the students will be introduced to using guide words in the dictionary. This should be a fun activity for them! We continue to practice our sight/spelling words daily. We have been working with contractions and will continue to do so. Please practice these at home with your child. We continue to use the Words Their Way program to practice sight words and word sounds. We continue to work on practicing handwriting skills every day.
Language Arts SOL: 2.6, 2.12, 2.9 Social Studies/Science:
This week we will start our unit on Ancient China and Egypt. We will start by reviewing some geography and learning about where these two areas are located on the map. We will work on China this week, disucussing the Great Wall of China and the contributions that came from ancient China that influence our lives today.
SS SOL 2.2, 2.4 Math:
We will continue Unit 9 this week, which is on measurement. This should be a fun unit for the students. We will be measuring things in and around our classroom. We will also discuss weight and mass in this unit. We will continue to discuss money, time and rounding/estimating numbers.
Trips/ActivitiesField Day - June 8th.
Dinner/Graduation/Awards Banquet will be Thursday, June 10 at 6:30. We are almost there....Believe it or not, June 18 is just around the corner. We are all getting excited about the summer, etc. Please help your child continue to get a good nights rest every night. We have a lot of academic work ahead of us, especially due to the missed days with the snow. We all want to have a fun and productive last 9 weeks!
